About Abuja

Meet, learn and do business in a unique setting

Abuja is the Federal capital of Nigeria with a population of 1.4 million but its capital status is young as the city only succeeded Lagos as capital in 1991. In a few years Abuja has become the heart of Nigeria’s diplomatic activity with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) basing their offices in the city.

Located at the heart of Africa’s most populous country, Abuja has a very strategic position for visiting the rest of the country. Far removed from the turbulent Niger Delta, Abuja is a modern and attractive city with many interesting buildings and villas. The beauty of Abuja is in its landscape
which is characterised by rolling hills, isolated highlands and gaps with low dissected plains. The territory has its lowest elevation in the south-west where the flood plain of Gurara River is at an elevation of about 70 meters above sea level.

Abuja is easily accessible by road for Nigerians and also those living in neighbouring countries. Many international fl ights depart from Abuja airport and the city is well served by the leading international hotel chains.
