Founded in 1987, the GSMA is a global trade association representing over 700 GSM mobile phone operators across 218 countries of the world. In addition, more than 200 manufacturers and suppliers support the Association’s initiatives as associate members. The primary goals of the GSMA are to ensure mobile phones and wireless services work globally and are easily accessible, enhancing their value to individual customers and national economies, while supporting a competitive environment, creating new business opportunities for operators and their suppliers. The primary objective of the African CDMA Forum is to lead the rapid evolution and deployment of 3G CDMA-based systems, based on open standards and encompassing all core architectures, to meet the needs of markets in greater Africa . The African CDMA Forum is an affiliate of the CDMA Development Group, the CDG. Members of the ACF become affiliate members of the CDG with full access. Formed in 1996 the UMTS Forum is an international industry association committed to the success of Third Generation (3G) UMTS mobile systems.
